National Day and Moon Festival public holiday notice
|
******************************
The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, it is celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month, when the moon is full and supposedly at itˇs brightest.
This Moon festival can be traced back to many legends. The most famous one, of course is none other than the lady, Chang Er who stole and swallowed her husband, the brutal emperor Hou Yiˇs elixir and flew up to the moon. and had been living there ever since.
The festival is a time for family reunions to appreciate the moon and eat moon cakes together. Bathed in bright moonshine and with the company of chrysanthemum and cassia blossoms, poets eat crab meat and moon cake, drink tea and wine, playing lantern and versify the night away.
